Landscape irrigation professionals who specialize in water-efficient irrigation can seek national certification to validate their knowledge, experience and skill. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) created the WaterSense® Partner label for contractors and irrigation specialists who have undergone special training on water efficiency.
About the EPA WaterSense® Program
WaterSense is a partnership program sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. WaterSense officially launched June 12, 2006, in San Antonio, TX, at the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference & Exposition. Since then, WaterSense and its partners have helped countless communities, organizations, and individuals learn more about why it’s important to save water and how to take easy steps to be part of the solution. The mission of WaterSense is to protect the future of our nation’s water supply by promoting and enhancing the market for water-efficient products and services.
Currently, there are more than 16,000 WaterSense labeled products and more than 2,200 irrigation partners. The program has saved 1.6 trillion gallons of water since 2006. WaterSense labeled products must achieve independent, third-party testing and certification to prove they meet EPA’s rigorous criteria for efficiency and performance.
