As Your Water Operator We Are Taking the Following Steps...

AS OF MARCH 20, 2020

The information below was sent directly to our clients who receive water operations services from Water in Motion but, any viewer is welcome to read:

Working with Minnesota Department of Health in light of COVID-19 actions:

MDH is open for business but, as of March 19th, 2020 non-emergency field services are suspended. considering the COVID-19 actions. Most MDH staff are beginning the transition of working remotely and have access to email. Desk phones will be forwarded to cell lines.

As MDH works through the challenges associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, Water in Motion will receive regular updates from MDH. If you are interested, you can find general updates on MDH's COVID-19 Website.

Required sampling:

Questions have arisen regarding sampling requirements if MDH staff are not available to conduct compliance sampling or, if there are restrictions on locations where MDH or Water in Motion can collect distribution samples -for example, taking a sample from inside a home is considered off-limits during the COVID-19 actions. Sample analysis typically includes bacteriological, fluoride, and lead/copper.

MDH is in discussions with EPA on this topic. MDH hopes to be able to provide guidance on reasonable and practical flexibility with compliance monitoring and reporting requirements, within the limits of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Meantime, if you’d like Water in Motion to collect compliance-style samples for analysis at a private lab, we can do this. Fees typically range from $350-$500 per sample. MDH compliance samples are generally taken on a quarterly basis.

Is drinking water safe?:

Some are asking if COVID-19 can be transmitted via drinking water. COVID-19 is not a waterborne disease and both EPA and CDC have addressed this in the following links:
